I'm Gerald Ho. I built shinmuscat because I kept needing the text out of TikTok videos and every free tool wanted an account, an email or a paid upgrade before it would hand over a caption file.

shinmuscat reads the captions a video already has and gives them back to you with timestamps, as plain text, SRT or VTT. There is no login, no ads and no daily cap, and I am not adding any. One person runs it and it costs me very little to keep up, so it stays free. If it saved you a scrub through a video, the tip jar is open.

The rest of my time goes to Axecute, where I teach people in Singapore to work with CLI coding agents like Claude Code, Codex and Grok, one to one. I build small tools like this one on the side, mostly to answer a question I had and could not find a clean answer to.
