TikTok Link Rejected? What Each Transcript Error Message Means

When the free TikTok script extractor fails, the banner always starts with We couldn't get that transcript. The next line is the one that matters. Only some of those lines mean the link was the wrong shape. The others mean a valid video URL got through, then something else failed.

The link was the wrong shape

These four lines appear before the tool fetches the video.

Paste a valid TikTok video link. The field is empty, the paste is not a link, or the text is longer than 2048 characters.

Paste the full TikTok link, starting with https://. The paste does not parse as a URL. Copy it again so it begins with https://.

Use a video link from tiktok.com, vm.tiktok.com, or vt.tiktok.com. The host is not one of those, or the link carries extra login details. YouTube Shorts and Instagram Reels hit this line, because the tool accepts TikTok links only.

That looks like a profile or playlist. Paste a link to one TikTok video. You pasted a profile, a playlist or a similar page. The tool accepts three shapes: https://www.tiktok.com/@creator/video/ plus the video id, a short link on vm.tiktok.com or vt.tiktok.com, or a share code on tiktok.com/t/.

If a short link passes that check and then shows This share link couldn't be resolved. Try the full video URL., paste the full @creator/video address instead.

The video is unavailable or blocked

This video is unavailable. It may be private, deleted, or restricted in this region. The URL was accepted as a video link, and TikTok did not return a watchable public item. TikTok isn't letting us access this video right now. Try again in a moment or use a different public video. This is a temporary access failure. Wait and retry, or try another public video. Unlike the unavailable line, it does not mention private, deleted or region-restricted.

TikTok couldn't return this video. Check that it's public and try again. TikTok's response was not OK. Confirm the video is public, then retry.

Captions missing, or captions that would not download

TikTok's captions couldn't be downloaded. Try this link again in a moment. The caption file failed to download. Wait, then paste the same link again.

This video has no accessible captions. Audio transcription isn't enabled yet. Try a video with spoken captions. There is no usable caption track to read. The video is over 60 minutes

Choose a video that's 60 minutes or shorter. The tool works on public videos up to 60 minutes.

The tool is busy, or the wait ran out

We're processing several videos. Please try again in a minute. The server is handling several videos at once: up to 8 requests a minute from the same network address, and 3 at the same time. Wait a minute, then paste again. There is no daily transcript cap. This limit is per minute.

This is taking longer than expected. Please try again. The request hit a 125-second timeout. Try again.

A handful of other lines also ask you to try again, including TikTok returned an empty response. Try again. and The connection ended before the transcript arrived. Please try again. Two less common ones: This video is too large. Try a shorter clip. and TikTok returned a different video. Please check the link and try again.

A footnote on three audio-only messages

The live tool reads captions. These three lines exist in the code for an audio path that is not turned on in normal use:

• TikTok didn't provide accessible audio for this video.
• Audio transcription is unavailable right now. Please try again later.
• We couldn't detect speech in this video. Try a clip with clearer spoken audio.

If one of them appears, try again or pick a video that already has captions.

Where your link goes

The TikTok tool sends the link to the server so it can read the public caption file. The page also loads Google Analytics. More on the privacy page. There is no TikTok login and no shinmuscat account.
