Homepage step 02 says shinmuscat reads the video's own captions and lines every sentence up with a timestamp. The FAQ spells out the trade-off: the tool reads existing captions instead of transcribing audio, so a video with no captions will not work. Why that design exists
TikTok publishes a caption file on many public videos. Reading that file is cheap and fast. The homepage FAQ contrasts this with Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts: those would need speech-to-text on the audio, which costs money. shinmuscat stays on TikTok and on the caption file, which is why the paste-a-link flow can stay free and unlimited with no login.

When caption-read fails
