TikTok Auto Captions Languages: What Transcript Tools Can Read

What TikTok has said about auto-caption languages
When TikTok introduced auto captions, the launch covered American English and Japanese, with more languages promised later (newsroom).
A later newsroom post on auto translations and captions named an initial expanded batch: English, Portuguese, German, Indonesian, Italian, Korean, Mandarin, Spanish and Turkish, with availability still expanding (newsroom). Treat that list as a historical expanded set, not a complete "as of September 2026" enum. Coverage grows over time.
TikTok Support's accessibility help says auto-generated captions use speech recognition, creators choose Select video language on the post screen, and captions can be edited or removed. That Help page does not publish a full current language list in the sources checked for this post. Do not invent one.
