Export TikTok Captions for CapCut Without Retyping

You want TikTok wording on a CapCut timeline without typing every line. If the TikTok already has captions, you can reuse that track as an SRT file instead of running CapCut Auto Captions on the project audio, or recreating each cue by hand.

Two CapCut paths

CapCut Help documents both routes:

1. Auto Captions / Recognise Subtitles runs AI speech-to-text on spoken audio in your project video (How do I recognise subtitles?). Web, Desktop, and Mobile all offer that path. CapCut tells you to review and correct the result.
2. Import subtitles loads an external timed file on CapCut Desktop and CapCut Web (How do I import subtitles?). Web accepts SRT only. Desktop accepts SRT (recommended) or TXT with timecodes. CapCut Mobile does not support direct subtitle file import as of that Help page.

Import reuses the wording and cue times already in the file. Auto Captions starts a fresh recognition pass on whatever audio sits in your CapCut project. Those are different mechanisms.

What TikTok gives you (and what it does not)

TikTok can show auto-generated or creator captions on a video, and creators can edit those lines in-app (Accessibility help; Introducing auto captions). Official Support and newsroom pages found for this post do not document a download of that track as SRT, VTT, or TXT. Saving the video is not the same as exporting a caption file.

Bridge: caption-read to SRT

Import into CapCut Desktop or Web

1. Open your CapCut project with the footage already on the timeline.
2. On Web: Captions tab → upload a .srt file.
3. On Desktop: Captions → Add Captions → select the .srt (or a TXT with timecodes, if you have one built that way). CapCut Help recommends UTF-8 for special characters.
4. Edit style and wording on the timeline as text clips.

Mobile CapCut

CapCut Help's Mobile workaround is either type each line (Text → Add Text), or import on Desktop/Web first, then sync the project so Mobile can view and edit the layers. Do not expect a direct .srt import button on the phone app.
