How to Download a TikTok Transcript as TXT

TikTok shows captions in the app, but it does not give you a copyable transcript file. If you want the words in a document, you download them as plain text from a caption-reader tool.

What TXT is for

Caption file versus burned-in text

Burned-in captions are pixels inside the video. You cannot turn them off or export them as data.

A caption file is separate editable text with timing. Auto-captions on TikTok are a soft overlay track. They are not the same as burned-in text. A caption-reader tool downloads the overlay track when it exists.

How the download works

shinmuscat does not listen to the audio. It reads the TikTok video's existing caption track, shows a transcript with timestamps, then lets you download a file.

You need a public TikTok that already has captions. Private videos and videos with no captions fail. The tool does not invent speech from the soundtrack.

Steps

1. On TikTok, open a public video and copy its Share link. You do not need a TikTok login for this path, and you do not need a shinmuscat account.
2. Paste the link into shinmuscat and hit Pick every word.
3. Wait for the transcript. On the homepage, most videos under about 20 seconds finish in a few seconds.
4. Download as plain text (TXT). You can also take SRT or VTT if you need a subtitle file instead.
